About Us

A Legacy That Began in 1912. A Taste That Has Traveled Generations.

On a crisp morning in 1912, after completing his daily workout, Lala Hans Raj Vig, a respected wrestler from Khushab village in Sargodha district (now in Pakistan), stood at the brink of history. With passion in his heart and strength in his arms, he was determined to create an energy-rich sweet that could support the rigorous lifestyle of wrestlers like him. His culinary experiments, combined with traditional knowledge, led him to develop something that was not only nutritionally powerful but also irresistibly delicious.

That was the day Dhodha was born—a rich, brown, nut-laden energy sweet, crafted with precision, passion, and purpose. Its name echoed masculinity and strength, while its flavor resonated with warmth and heritage. Soon, Dhodha gained immense popularity across nearby villages and towns. The road that led to his sweet shop in Khushab came to be fondly known as "Dhodha Street."

A Journey Through Time

When the subcontinent was partitioned in 1947, the Vig family left behind their ancestral land and legacy, carrying only memories and the secret recipe of Dhodha. They resettled in Kotkapura, Punjab, and resumed their sweet-making tradition. The taste of Dhodha remained unchanged, continuing to charm generations with its distinct flavor.

Over the decades, Dhodha expanded to cities like Ludhiana, Ghaziabad, and New Delhi, and made its way to international shores—winning hearts in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Today, the fourth generation of the Vig family keeps the tradition alive with the same passion and promise. The recipe remains a closely guarded family secret, passed down from one generation to the next, unchanged for over 112 years.
